NuvanaPOS started with a simple observation: Kenyan shop owners are smart, hardworking people running businesses on paper, notebooks, and gut feel — not because they want to, but because nothing better was built for them.

The problem we saw

Walk into almost any retail shop in Kenya and you'll find the same thing: a notebook behind the counter, M-Pesa confirmations on a phone screen, a mental stock list the owner keeps in their head.

These shop owners work incredibly hard. They're up before 6 AM, serve hundreds of customers, manage suppliers, handle staff — and then spend their evenings tallying the day's sales by hand. They never really know if they made money. They reorder stock that's already full, and run out of what sells fast. They grow on instinct alone.

Most POS software is built for Western markets — expensive, complex, requires expensive hardware, and doesn't understand M-Pesa or local tax-compliance needs like eTIMS integration. The few local options are either clunky or designed for large enterprises.
